During the fall semester, AHEC staff will post answers to questions submitted by teams.
6) Should we focus on Kentucky, WI, or a solution that would work nationally?
My opinion would be to work on a solution that would work nationally.
7) Is the solution we are looking for Stroke specific or all healthcare in general?
My recommendation would be to focus specifically on stroke care.
8) Is the budget we are choosing one of the four to see which encompasses the triple aim?
The Triple Aim is: improving patient experience, improving population health, and reducing the cost of healthcare.10
Make sure your budget reflects the project/initiative you are working to put into place, due to improving patient experience, improving population health, and reducing the cost of healthcare.
9) Are we able to access any outlines of cases from previous years?
Unfortunately I cannot share any outlines of cases from the previous years. I will refer you to the student handbook page 18 -20. It talks about the case and how the competition is evaluated & judged. I am hoping this will help when thinking about how to organize your presentation.
10). Should we choose one of these contracts as part of the comprehensive plan (Total Cost of Care, Shared Savings, Bundled Payments, or Traditional fee for service agreements) and work towards improving that certain contract by making it focus on the triple aim program?
You will want to focus on one of these contracts when creating your comprehensive plan. It might help to watch the video that goes along with the case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7THNkDCy5Ro&feature=youtu.be
11) Does the 3 page summary follow APA or MLA format? APA would be great.
12) May we include headers and bullet points to better organize and layout our summary? Yes, you can organize your paper in any way that helps you to get your root cause analysis across.
13) Is there a certain font or font size we need to follow? NO
14) The presentation in front of the judges, I understand it is professional, but would starting off with a short skit or video that we made as an attention-getter be a good hook for our audience, or is this not professional enough? This is something that your group would need to decide. An attention getting “hook” is an interesting concept, just remember who your target audience will be (refer back to the case study and who is on the STHN Board –Page5, 6 & 7).
15) Is it ok to use Microsoft Excel for the budget, or do you prefer Word documents? Yes. You can use an Excel spreadsheet.
16) Is it ok to use graphic figures in the budget? Yes. You may use any graphics you wish.
